Kotu is located in the welcoming West African country of the Gambia. About 15km west of the capital Banjul, the Kotu beach area is a large sandy stretch bordered with palm trees. Water ranges from flat calm to choppy with some delightful little waves lapping towards the shore. Thanks to the luxury of space along this shoreline, Kotu Beach boasts several African style, low-rise hotels each surrounded by colourful, tropical gardens and swimming pools. Visitors enjoy the peace and quiet, wonderful bird life, wide choice of international and African food, and breath-taking sunsets across the Atlantic Ocean. There is an interesting craft market, a mini supermarket, plenty of restaurants and a good choice of friendly beachside bars. Many have live music entertainment, and provide the perfect setting for a cocktail as the sun slips down. The 18-hole Fajara golf course is on the outer edge of the growing Kotu area and day trips to other parts of the country are easily arranged. Kotu Beach is 20 kilometres from Yundum International Airport.
